How It All Began: The Story Behind MakeRoom

It all started with a moment that turned my life upside down. I was 27, leaving behind a familiar life in Israel and moving to New York, a vast and overwhelming city that forced me to start from scratch. I arrived with a suitcase full of dreams and years of experience in fashion and marketing, only to discover that this experience didn’t quite translate to the new world unfolding before me.

In New York, I was offered opportunities to start over—entry-level internships for no pay—but my pride and belief in myself wouldn’t let me settle. Instead of taking the “easy” route, I began working odd jobs: selling tea at a holiday market, bartending, and doing whatever it took to get by.

And in between it all, I found myself doing something that came so naturally, I didn’t even realize it was a skill. Whenever I visited friends or family, I would organize. Closets, kitchens, even entire living spaces—I instinctively knew how to turn chaos into order, to transform a space into something both functional and beautiful.

The First Steps

While working these temporary jobs, I was also helping my partner build a jewelry and diamond business. We were just starting out, selling through flash-sale websites, and I applied everything I knew to push us forward. But deep down, I felt like something was missing.

There were moments of clarity—when I helped friends arrange their wardrobes, when I turned cluttered kitchens into inviting spaces, or when I created systems that made it easier for someone to pick out clothes every morning. Slowly, I began to realize there was something bigger here.

A Turning Point

When I became a mother, everything started to fall into place. My home turned into a mini playground: toys, clothes, diapers—everything you could imagine. But instead of drowning in the chaos, I found myself inventing solutions.
